There are so many memories of my years of involvement with NCJW/GDS. The most memorable and rewarding one was serving as president from 1990-1992 at a time when our section was celebrating its 100th birthday. Planning and being a part of our centennial was exciting. The timeline exhibit that we created appeared at the West Bloomfield JCC, and is now displayed on the walls of our office. At the time of the celebration, the display drew lots of people and helped them to learn about what we do in our community, our country and in Israel.
I started as a Councilette because of my friend Sara Krause’s mother. Ever since, NCJW has provided me many great experiences and friendships that have grown and lasted. Fashion Spree, at its first sale, was closed down by the Southfield Public Safety Department because of the crowds, but did reopen later, and what a fund raiser that turned out to be for a number of years; Terran Leemis and I dismantling the Puritan Council Thrift Shop, and then moving stuff over to the new Livernois/6 Mile store along with Hope Silverman and Marlene Schwartz; my dad, Lew Rose, being the Fix-it Guy for things in the office; being a National Board member and attending the conventions, Washington Institute, and leadership retreats with my fellow section members.
