National Convention in Chicago

When I was a new Board Member, President Sharon Lipton asked me if I would like to attend the upcoming National Convention in Chicago. I was very happy to have been asked to participate in this event but I had no idea how impressive it would be. I came back from this experience so blown away by the many hundreds of bright, articulate, dedicated women who all valued the same humanitarian, life-affirming aspirations for our society that I did. I sat in educational meetings working on the precise wording of our philosophy and guidelines. I participated in voting for suggested changes and additions. I listened to famous and respected speakers who extended my knowledge and understanding of our positions.  Many years and conventions later when I returned as President of our section, I was struck again by the powerful voice we have on our local, state and national stages and how important and valuable this work must always continue to be.
