Good memories with NCJW

So many good memories. Passport to Israel brought me into NCJW.  It was a school based program introduced by Marilyn Levine. I was eager to do programs, outreach, etc.  Passport was important at the time.  It was created to combat the images of rock throwing in Israel, was an innovative, exciting way to talk about the diverse people we might meet on the streets of Jerusalem and helped to understand what life was like for a child in Israel.  From there the doors were open wide as I joined the Board and then became VP of Community Services.  NCJW had a mission that was close to my heart; working with families, women and children.  A good memory is doing Meals on Wheels with my daughter, Debbie, and our very new granddaughter. With our Backpacking project we were four generations as Debbie came to work as well as my mother-in-law, Rose.  Samantha, just a few months old, cheering us on from her infant seat! Our local grandchildren joined us in our activities and in the years that followed, our other grandchildren would hear about them and take part when they came to visit.  There always seems to be something significant going on with NCJW, a trip to Lansing, or a symposium to work on to inform the community of an NCJW concern. It’s been a tremendous learning experience for me and of course meeting wonderful people, making wonderful friends along the way.
