Memories

There are so many memories swirling around in my brain … first time in the NCJW office, first committee meeting and activity, being appointed to the Board of Directors, subbing for the Recording Secretary because someone said, “she can spell”, attending Washington Institute and seeing Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the hotel lobby, my mother (z’l) in the audience for my installation as a Vice President, co-chairing various committees, meeting Gloria Steinem, serving three two-years as Recording Secretary…
Why are these, and other of my memories, so special? Very simply, it is because of the many women who have been part of my volunteer experience with NCJW/Greater Detroit Section and have made it such a positive and rewarding one.  These tireless women whose focus is to educate and advocate for social justice and the welfare of women, children and families are exceptional. To a person, they are articulate, bright, caring, dedicated, effective, friendly, generous, helpful, industrious, joyful, knowledgeable leaders who are motivated by their unwavering belief in doing what is right for those who cannot do for themselves.   I am grateful for the privilege of membership in the greater Detroit Section of NCJW and the opportunity to be in the company of such outstanding women who unbeknownst to them continue to play an important part in my life.
